I didn’t do much today other than laundry and a bike ride through the beautiful city of Anderson, Indiana.  I did, however, notice the presence of a number of limousines.  This made me curious, but then I remembered hearing that tonite was prom at Highland.  Case solved.  Well, one interesting thing did happen.  About an hour to an hour and a half ago, I got a call from my former roommate Jon Mobley.  He was calling to report that his car had died, and he was stuck at the McDonald’s way down Scatterfield by the interstate.  I offered to pick him up.  When I arrived, he announced that with the help of additional oil, his car was able to start.  Well, we decided to see how far we could drive before it died again, so I set out with him not far behind.  We chose to take back roads so he wouldn’t die on Scatterfield.  We chose Madison Avenue instead.  As luck would have it, he died twice more on the way home.  The first time, I let him have my spare quart of oil, and sure enough, he was able to get it started again.  It was looking like we’d make it all the way back, but it died again right by the government buildings right over the bridge on 8th Street.  So I drove to the Ricker’s and picked up a couple more quarts of oil (and a slushy) on his dollar, and once again it started.  We made it this time, but the funny thing was that it died again as we were pulling into the lot at his apartment.  We pushed it the rest of the way into the parking spot and called it an evening.  So after four automobile deaths (one before he even got to Anderson and the three I was there to experience), five quarts of oil, an hour, and a Ricker’s slushy, our experience was over.  Now it is time to go watch SNL.

Peace.
